Gold From The Word:
Learning Obedience by the Things
We Suffer

It is rather difficult for us as Christians to see suffering from a positive stand point even when we acknowledge that our salvation was the result of Christ’s own sufferings on the way to, and on the cross. We hear most of the time people saying ,”you ought to live a victorious life because Jesus had paid it all for you.”
The victory that is often referred to is that one in which the Christian does not have to encounter any difficulties as he walks the Christian road. This has led to many Christians walking in guilt and many more joining the accuser of the brethren. Those who walk in guilt think that there must be some sin in their lives to bring about undue hardship when they are doing all they can to live righteously. Those who join the accuser of the brethren think that those who have troubles are obviously guilty of some sin and thus are getting paid for it by their sufferings.
When Jesus went to the cross there were many who thought that he was being crucified for falsehood and for trouble making. Lots of his followers abandoned him and all his disciples fled. Yet we learn in Philippians 2:5-11 that he was walking the path of humility and obedience to the extent that he had to face , or rather, be submitted to the shameful death on the cross. We learn that this is the reason why He has been exalted to the highest place as his promotion.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The fifth verse of the above passage admonishes us to have the same mindset as Christ had to qualify for the father’s favor. The Apostle Paul also tells us in the Book of 2Timothy 2: 9-12 that suffering is a part of our Christian experience because suffering involves dying to self so that Christ can live in us.

9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
Again Paul points out in 2 Timothy 3:12 that Godliness will attract suffering.
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

The writer of Hebrews takes up the same theme pointing out Hebrews 5: 5-9 that obedience is actually learned by the things which we suffer, and that suffering leads to learning, and learning to perfection for promotion. This is what made Christ into the author of eternal salvation to all that obey Him.

5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

It is pretty obvious that you have as a Christian met with some unfair judgment in your life, among fellow believers, some of whom may think that you are trying to be too spiritual in solely and wholeheartedly clinging to the ways of the Lord instead of doing what “normal” people do to get everything right for themselves.
Sometimes these accusations may be unbearable. But you need to understand that the Lord your God is not looking for normal people. He is looking for a remnant. You cannot have it the world’s way and be at the same time pleasing to God. If the world loves you it is because you are one of their own so they can afford to identify with you. If they hate you it is because you are not one of theirs.
If you belong to the Lord then God will not leave you without chastisement because loving fathers chastise their children especially their heirs so that they may be perfect and responsible. You cannot teach a child to obey and do things right if you compromise and fail to be tough on them. In the end they will be sloppy and bring you shame.
For this reason the Lord will allow you to undergo suffering as he trains you for obedience. See how soldiers are trained. It’s not pleasurable to them when they do inconveniencing stuff. Those who do not understand military training may even begin to ask why they have to suffer so much.
Even then only those who are ready to take risks in a battle ever get spectacular victories. The harder they come, the harder they fall. To be victorious means you have to have and engage an opponent in order to fight and win. No spectator ever leaves the boxing contest with a belt of any repute. They always go home empty handed.
As servants we have to learn how to be obedient even when it hurts. God for some time has been training us to rely on Him. When we were working we thought that we were relying on God. It felt very bad to be asked to serve Him fulltime. Immediately, we realized how little we had relied on Him for our needs and provision. It became very clear to us that we loathed leaving work because we had relied on the arm of flesh for our needs.
Then for the first few years there was a steady cash flow and we though we had had a great victory in learning to rely on God. The Dwindling of finances started revealing to us that instead of relying on God we had started relying on people. We had some anxieties and this was suffering. God did not allow this just because he wanted us to suffer. He was allowing us to suffer so that we might learn obedience in the things we suffer. Increasingly we have come to realize that our true and steady supply is only assured when we look up to him totally and completely as the only one who can meet our needs.
It has become clear that for us to be able to teach others how to live by faith, we too must be able to completely trust God for our own sustenance. It has become clear that any form of manipulation to meet our own needs will only keep us longer on the training ground.
We share these experiences with you dear partners so that you too may learn what we have learnt through suffering and stop being hard on yourself and listening to the voice that tells you can make it without being trained to obey and without any suffering on your part.
We hope you will be encouraged to know that you can learn obedience through the things that you suffer. You are a servant and you can only be as your master, not greater. If God taught him this way, he will do the same for you and will glorify you in the end.
God Bless You.~ Joshua & Priscilla.

Gold From The Word
:How Your Attitude To The Word
Affects you.

In the light of all the bad news being churned out about the economy The Lord put in our hearts to share this Biblical experience with you from the Book of 2 Kings.
In 2 Kings 6 Benhadad invades the Northern Kingdom of Israel and lays siege to Samaria. There is such a famine in the city that women decide to eat one another’s kids. When the King of Israel hears about this he girds himself with sackcloth and seeks to kill Elisha. When they meet Elisha prophecies,

2Ki 7:1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

As expected, there will always be skeptics of the Word of God. A highly placed Lord in the kingdom who understands the science of crisis and siege-logy declares that the prophecy is impossible. With such great faith in his doubt the lord disqualifies himself from the coming blessing. Elisha tells him that he will see the word come to pass but shall be excluded from its joys.

2Ki 7:2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
When the prophecy comes to pass it does so in the most unexpected way. God uses lepers to bring the good news.
2Ki 7:3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
2Ki 7:4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

The lepers decide that inaction is not an option. During a crisis inaction is not an option. We need to do something to attract god’s Blessings. When the lepers tried to do something they met with the abundant supply of the Almighty. While they had feared for their lives they remained hungry. “They are overwhelmed by the catch.”
They had two options; horde the good news and let calamity overtake them, or, pass on the good news and let everyone share the blessings. They chose the latter and became the bringers-of-good-news to the entire city.

2Ki 7:5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.
2Ki 7:6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.
2Ki 7:7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.
2Ki 7:8 And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.
2Ki 7:9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king's household.
2Ki 7:10 So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.
2Ki 7:11 And he called the porters; and they told it to the king's house within.
2Ki 7:15 And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.
2Ki 7:16 And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.

Good news always has its casualties, those who in the first place have always doubted its possibility. The lord who had doubted at first dies in the stampede that follows the good news.

2Ki 7:17 And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.

Every crisis has the potential for bringing good to those who always look for a silver lining in a dark cloud, while for those who only see doom and are so certain of it, the outbreak of good things always crushed them to death. That is exactly what doubting God will do to any Christian at this time. If I were to have a word for all Christians at this time I will say, “ Hear me people of God. This crisis is not here to mar you but to make you.
Watch out, wait on the Lord, and trust in Him. Do something he puts on your heart. You will be full of joy when the dust settles. Don’t think of doom, and you will not be doomed. Remember that He is the God of all sufficiency.

God Bless You.~ Joshua.

ABOUT US

Revs. Joshua & Priscilla Cheng were both school teachers when the Lord Jesus Christ appeared in their Mamfe home in Cameroon on July 24, 1993 and commissioned them to carry His Light to those Who are in darkness. This revelation was followed by public confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ . Later, they presided over a prayer meeting of about seventy persons which became the venue for mighty works of the Holy Spirit. Many persons were healed of various ailments, including Hernia, asthma, Heart diseases, and others were delivered from demonic possession and witchcraft. Traditional Church authorities were not at ease with this new wave of healings and deliverance, and sought to bring it to an end. This led to the planting of the first church in august 1998 at Mamfe. A second Church was planted in Kembong and a third in Mbakang. The fourth church is in Afab, the fifth in Banya, and the sixth in Bamenda, and the next in Lithonia, Georgia. The Chengs live in Conyers with their daughters Christabelle,Faith, and Love.. They hope to reach out to the lost world from this base in the United States.

OUR MISSION

Faith Revival End-Time Ministries Incorporated is a soul winning and church planting Body that considers the Great Commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as her main Focus.
She intends to win the lost to Jesus Christ, disciple and empower them spiritually and economically, and to send them out to become living witnesses and life changers in their societies. This means that our focus is the whole man. If we can relieve human misery in anyway we would in part be fulfilling our dream.
We therefore seek to plant Churches, open schools, build health facilities, rehabilitation centers, and vocational training facilities to cater for the needs of the people we minister to. We also intend to feed the hungry and cloth the naked as the Lord provides through His people. In doing this we intend to present Our Lord and God not only as Savior but also as Provider.
We consider taking the Love of Jesus to the world a corporate responsibility of the Body Of Christ. Therefore we work together with other churches to make this dream of catering for the "have nots” a reality.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

1. We believe in one God, the Covenant God of the Old and New Testaments revealed in His Word as Father , Son, and Holy Spirit.
2. We believe the Bible is the infallible word of God.
3. We believe that man is sinful and separated from God, and that Salvation is only possible when man repents and accepts the atonement offered freely to him in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the Cross.
4. We believe in the virgin birth and sinless life of Jesus Christ.
5. We believe that Jesus died and was buried, and that He bodily resurrected on the third day as scripture says, and is sitting at the right hand of the majesty on high.
6. We believe in His Second Coming.
7. We believe in everlasting life for the saved, and in everlasting punishment for the Damned.
8. We believe that those who are saved God equips through the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the manifestation of the various gifts as He wills.

HOW TO EXPERIENCE GOD’S LOVE AND FORGIVENESS

1. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and that you deserve God’s punishment for your sins. That you need salvation else you will be lost forever. The Bible says, “All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23).”

2. Realize that God loves you and wants you to repent and be forgiven your sins. He has provided a way for you to escape punishment in the sacrifice of His son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for your sins, taking away your guilt. “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him should not perish hut have everlasting life (John 3: 16).”

3. Accept God’s gift of forgiveness to you by faith and receive Jesus Christ in your heart as your Lord and Savior. You will then become a child of God by being born again. “As many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to those who believed upon His Name (John 1:12).

4. You can be saved right now if you will pray this prayer.

Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me and dying for my sins. Forgive me for my sins and save my soul this very moment. I renounce sin and all the works of the devil right now. Come into my heart. I receive you into my life as my personal Lord and my Savior (Romans 10:13). From this moment I will follow you for you are the Lord and love of my life. Thank you Jesus! In you name I pray. AMEN

5. Now that you are a child of God get baptized and join a church where the whole Bible truth is taught, and where God is worshipped in Spirit and in truth with His power backing his word as in the Acts of the Apostles (Mark 16:15-20). Grow in the spirit and win others for The Kingdom of God. GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU LIVE FOR HIM!

GIVING YOUR LIFE TO JESUS

Giving your life to Jesus is like joining a team that’s guaranteed to win. In Cameroon, there were great soccer teams like Canon Yaounde and Tonnerre. In the 1970’s, these teams always had the guarantee to win and to remain on top of the soccer league.
The players in these teams, however, did not go to sleep and forget they had to face weaker teams, who were always looking for ways to bring them down. They tried to improve their training facilities, and trained even harder than the weaker teams.
When they did make a mistake, a weak team would defeat them, and there would be so much ado about it. When they returned to their principles, they would again win.
Being a Christian is much the same way. You know you are in the team that is guaranteed to win, as long as the players don’t falter. You have to keep alert and always give the opponent the right punches, while you watch out for his, else you may sustain severe injuries, and be carried off the ring. It will take you time to bounce back after serious medical care.
I want you to understand that a player, who is careless, even in a good team, can sustain injuries, such that the said player might never play again. You see why we need to keep fighting to keep our victory. Can you also imagine the allies having won the 2nd World War, kept their weapons in a 1945 state, and refused to train or improve their weapons and soldiers because they had won the war? They would have been in a very sorry state right now.
Remember, the Word says only those who endure to the end will be saved. As a new convert or Christian you have to daily fellowship with God in studying the Word of God, in prayer, and in fasting. You will also practice sharing your faith with others. This is so that your spiritual muscle is strengthened to withstand the devil.
You also need to fellowship with others in church so that you will encourage others with your testimonies and also be encouraged by theirs according to Hebrews 10:25 (KJV).

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
